Darjeeling district Congress members held a protest march in Siliguri on Monday to demand action regarding the voter list revision process. Workers gathered near the Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statue close to Siliguri Junction to start the demonstration, following directives from the All India Congress Committee.
The rally moved from the junction and ended in front of the Sub-Divisional Officer office where workers continued their demonstration.
Congress accused the Chief Election Commissioner of bias and demanded his arrest during the protest.
The party alleged that valid voter names are being removed from the voter list under the special intensive revision process due to the influence of the ruling party.
Congress stated that this affects the democratic rights of common people and raised questions about the neutrality of the Election Commission.
